One of My First Milky Way Attempts

Grand Canyon. One of my first attempts at capturing the Milky Way.

I started right at sunset, which is too early for the Milky Way, and you can see the dying twilight on the right of the frame with the orange sitting on the horizon on the right while the stars are coming out on the left. There were clouds around too, so most of the sky is covered and you can barely see the stars in the sky.

I found it again going through old files, and there’s plenty I’d do differently. I’d wait out the light, and I’d know where the core was going to come up and build the composition around it instead of pointing the camera at the sky and hoping.

I still like it. The pine tree and rock are the stars of the scene instead of the blocked out milky way.
